Already etching?  Want to add colour? This workshop will add to your etching skills. Explore combining multiple colours with your line work by using multiple copper plates.

Take your etching skills one step further with colour and multi plates. This workshop will explore new possibilities in combining colour with your line work, using at least 2 plates. Learn how to wipe with multiple coloured inks on a single plate (the a la poupee technique).

Join a small friendly group of printmakers, delving deeper into this technique. It’s also brilliant for those wishing to brush-up or re-acquaint themselves with the medium.  Participants will take home a small edition of prints

Two Day Workshop includes:

  • Applying grounds

  • Transferring image to plates

  • Etching in Ferric Chloride (Edinburgh Etch)

  • Preparing the press for printing and registration techniques

  • Combining colours & wiping plates with multiple colours

  • Printing with Chine Collè & a la Poupee

NOTE: All workshops at Baldessin Studio use low toxic chemicals and adhere to strict OHS work practices

Copper Plate etching uses Ferric Chloride (Edinburgh Etch solution). A safe and easy approach to etching.
