Terms and conditions of Baldessin studio entry and use
Payments
Workshop payments are required upon enrolment via the Baldessin Press & Studio website.
All other payments will be invoiced by Baldessin Press & Studio as necessary.
Workshop Cancellations & Refunds
We understand that circumstances can change. A full workshop refund will be offered:
· if a workshop in which you are enrolled is cancelled or deferred to a date unsuitable for your attendance. This may be the case if a Covid lockdown is announced.
· upon receipt of an email indicating your intention to withdraw your enrolment when notice is provided to us at least three weeks in advance of the workshop start date.
Workshop Credit - Transfers
We are happy to transfer your enrolment to a future workshop, but this will depend on availability of studio space and three weeks notice being given to us.
OH&S
Your actions affect the wellbeing of everyone working with you in the studio. All enrolled studio artists are required to undertake a studio OH&S induction and complete an induction form prior to commencement of work in the studio. Cleaning of your art space and removal of your artworks is your responsibility and maintaining safe whilst respectful studio housekeeping is a shared responsibility.
While all care is taken by Baldessin Press & Studio Inc, visitors and users of the premises at 90 Shaftesbury Ave, St Andrews, Vic 3079 have responsibility for the security of personal belongings and safe use of the premises.
High Bush Fire Danger Days
Baldessin Studio is in St Andrews in a bushland setting accessed by unsealed roads.
Please note that in in a dangerous bushfire Baldessin Studio is not a designated “Safer Place” or “Place of Last Resort” and no such site has been identified by the CFA in the village of St Andrews. The nearest designated “Place of last Resort” is located 9.5 kms away in Hurstbridge or 16 kms away in at the Community Centre in Diamond Creek.

Bushfire safety is a shared responsibility. Studio visitors must be responsible for planning for their safety in the event of a bushfire that threatens Baldessin Studio. That would include familiarising themselves with bushfire ratings on the day of visit and developing an evacuation plan including the location of a safer location. Baldessin Studio staff will monitor the status of bushfire hazards, may request evacuation of the Studio and will provide support where possible.
On TOTAL FIRE BAN days and when the bushfire danger rating is designated by the CFA as “HIGH” Baldessin Studio will normally remain open and staff will monitor official advice and weather. If fire danger escalates staff will consider cancelling activities and asking you to evacuate the studio immediately to enact YOUR plan move to a safer location. All care will be taken to offer support, but it is important that you have prepared a plan for your own safety.
On days where bushfire danger raring is designated by the CFA as “EXTREME” Studio Staff may decide to cancel activities or evacuate the Studio.
The Studio will be closed to all visitors on a day of “CATASTROPHIC” fire danger rating. Artists staying in the accommodations will be advised to leave the property.
Refunds or alternative studio access will be available to anyone who has booked into the Studio on a day of “Catastrophic” fire danger rating when the Studio is evacuated and for anyone who decides not to attend a booking on a day of “Extreme” fire danger rating.
Your Privacy
Contact information supplied to The Baldessin Press & Studio will not be disclosed outside the studio without your express consent, except where required by law. The Baldessin Press & Studio does not retain your banking information.
Photography
We love to show people photographs of the great art and art making activities that emerge from our studio. From time to time we take photos of artwork and artists working in our beautiful studio. The photos are never sold and will be used by and for The Baldessin Press & Studio. We will always try to ask your permission before taking a photograph of you or your work but if you have a particular preference not to appear in a photograph please inform us before commencing work in the studio.
Mailing list
We like to keep you up-to-date about our workshop schedules, opportunities to visit the studio or similar. From time to time emails are sent to enrolled students, past students and friends of the studio for marketing purposes. Please inform us if you wish to unsubscribe and you will be removed from our mailing list.
Non-enrolled participants
We believe it is important for our artists and tutors to be able to immerse themselves in the creative process without external distractions. If you are not enrolled to work in our studio please avoid disturbing our artists and tutors during classes or access days. By prior arrangement non-enrolled friends or partners of our artists are welcome to come into the studio after a workshop or an access days is finished. If you are staying on the property with an enrolled artist you are welcome to enjoy the studio grounds and ask us about places to visit in the local area.
Dogs
Dogs are not permitted in the studio during workshops, Registered Assistance Dogs excepted.
