STUDIO ACCESS

The Baldessin Studio is a not-for-profit incorporated association, with charitable status, created in memory of the late George Baldessin, whose original studio is now open to the public for creative use and as a practical legacy to living artists, perpetuating his generous and collaborative spirit.

Today, the Baldessin Studio is run by a team of dedicated volunteers who endeavour to deliver a supportive environment for all printmakers.

Studio Access is available Tuesday to Friday from 9.30am
Weekend Studio Access is available by arrangement only

Work on your own project in the company of other artists. Printmaking experience is essential if using the etching presses. BYO materials and lunch. 
While technical assistance is on available hand, it is not included as part of general Studio Access. If you need assistance, please let us know when you are booking.

FEES & CHARGES

ACCESS FEES

In addition to your Studio Access, the Baldessin Studio will provide the following materials for use: newsprint, rags, cleaning solvents, cleaning solvents (low-toxic where possible), scrapers & palette knives, rollers & brayer, kitchen facilities and tea & coffee.

Access Fees $70 per day - All studio access users pay an access fee that covers use of printmaking equipment $70 per day. This includes access to the presses, blankets, rollers, drying racks, printers & exposure units if applicable, drying racks, flattening bats, and cleaning supplies.
 
Access Fee (Full Studio) $210 per day - It is possible to book the entire studio for the day, pending availability and the scale of your project. Again, this includes access to all three presses, blankets, rollers, drying racks, printers & exposure units if applicable, drying racks, flattening bats, and cleaning supplies. Studio Inks Use $22 per day - This includes the use of studio inks, of which we have a generous range of types, brands & colours available. Alternatively, you are very welcome to bring your own inks, which we recommend if you are editioning!

If you are new to the studio, please book in for an OH&S induction. This only needs to be done once, and may be done at the beginning of your Studio Access day.
OH&S Induction $93.50 – New Studio users are required to undertake a full studio OHS and studio protocol induction prior to using the studio.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE & TUITION

Technical Assistance $93.50 per hour – by arrangement if you require technical support to refresh your skills, provide post-workshop support.

One-on-One Tuition $495 per day – by arrangement if you would like individual tuition from a printmaker who is skilled in the technique you wish to explore.

PRINTMAKING/ART MATERIALS

Additional Materials - We stock a select range of ‘basic’ printmaking materials that are available for sale. This includes a limited range of printmaking & chine collé papers, tarlatan & Akua Wiping fabrics. We also have Inkjet Papers, Photopolymer Plates, Tissue paper, Hard ground & Soft Grounds available.
