IT’S PRINTED MAGIC!
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced printmaker, this workshop is all about inspiring creativity and encouraging experimentation.
Discover lots of exciting ways to work with your copper plate to enhance and change the printed image.
Here's a breakdown of what you can expect:
Initially you will prepare a single etched copper key plate. But the focus of this workshop is the time you will spend experimenting with a wide variety of printing techniques, used singly or in combination, to change to appearance of your print.
By the end of the workshop, you will have gained a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience in printmaking. You'll leave with a diverse suite of prints that demonstrate the endless creative possibilities that can be achieved from a single key plate. The workshop encourages you to embrace the unexpected and push the boundaries of printing.
Techniques included:
1. Chine Colle with Japanese Papers: Learn how to incorporate delicate Japanese papers into your prints, adding texture and colour.
2. Colour Roll Ups: Explore the use of vibrant colours on a second plastic plate to enhance your prints.
3. Colour Variations: Experiment with colour choices and combinations to produce a spectrum of effects, from subtle to bold.
4. Relief and Intaglio Printing: Combine both relief and intaglio techniques.
5. Masking Out / Stencilling: Discover how to selectively mask out or stencil areas of your plate to create unique patterns, shapes, and designs within your prints.
6. Ghost Printing: Explore the world of ghost printing, where residual ink on your plate is used to create subtle, layered prints….
The fee for this two-day class includes materials. Participants will work on a 25cm x 20cm copper plate and we recommend bringing along image ideas that are relevant to the size of the plate and the graphic nature of the technique.
