Artist Statement
Heichalot continues an ongoing investigation into surrender and control and the conditions under which coherence, locality and sublimity become known. Utilizing photogravure etching with raw pigment and cold wax, the work explores the relationship between points of view, materiality and atmosphere, allowing form to oscillate between revelation and concealment. Printmaking has been central to the development of my practice for the last three years. Through frequent work at Baldessin Studio, particularly in photogravure, the studio has become an important site of experimentation and inquiry, helping lay the foundation for several bodies of work. It is a privilege to contribute to this collection that celebrates a studio that has supported generations of artists and the continued evolution of contemporary 

printmaking.

Yehonatan Koenig (b.1967) is an American/Australian contemporary artist whose practice explores the emergence of coherence through perception, material transformation and sustained attention. Working across printmaking, drawing, textiles, light and generative systems, his work investigates the threshold between form and formlessness, structure and drift. Koenig holds an MFA from Hunter College, New York and a BFA from the School of Visual Arts. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections in Australia, Europe, and the United States
