Artist Statement
I have had a long association with Baldessin Studio, it is a place I return to and continue to support. It’s a print workshop as it should be; radio on, prints on the wall, messy with making and fingerprints, a place you enjoy going to. There is a life force which is essential to creativity. 

Rick Amor (b. 1948) was born in Frankston, Victoria, and completed a Certificate of Art at the Caulfield Institute of Art in 1965 before studying at the National Gallery School, Melbourne from 1966 to 1968. In 1999 he was appointed the official war artist to East Timor by the Australian War Memorial, the first such appointment since the Vietnam War. He has been the recipient of several Australia Council studio residencies that have allowed him to work in London, New York and Barcelona. Amor has held eighty solo exhibitions since first exhibiting at Joseph Brown Gallery in 1974 and has shown annually at Niagara Galleries since 1983. Amor lives and works in Melbourne.

To mark its 25th year, Baldessin Studio has embarked on a very special project—inviting 53 members of its community to create an editionable print for the Baldessin Studio 25th Anniversary Print Collection. Launching at Sydney Contemporary, the collection is a celebration of the incredible community of artists who engage in the life of the studio, as well as a fundraiser to ensure the organisation can continue its work and sustain its vision, “to inspire and enable innovative printmaking whilst upholding the Baldessin ethic of fostering creativity in all forms”.
