Artist Statement
That used to be a part of me features the form of a shed piece of bark—a reminder of something previously integral to the tree that has made way for new growth, and in turn, feeds the soil. The work cogitates the cyclical nature of these ecosystems where one function sustains another, each satisfying its role in quiet purpose amidst the places we inhabit.

Baldessin Studio has been a lovely print getaway location for me over the last few years. It has been a place to develop my practice through expert workshops or to enjoy dedicated time away from other distractions while being immersed in the beautiful bush surrounds, which often act as further inspiration to my practice.

Fiona Davey (b.1997) is a printmaker and artist based in Melbourne/Naarm; her practice considers the connections between different patterns, surfaces, and forms within nature and the connections we hold in these spaces. Davey graduated from a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Monash University in 2018 and has since exhibited across Australia with work held in public and private collections.
