Artist Statement
Falling star is a woodcut print relating to many paintings l’ve done over many years. An image of a big lonely star falling into the ocean. I was introduced to Baldessin Studio through Marcus O’Donnell and was invited to make a small group of zinc plate lithographs with Chris Ingham several years ago.

Bradd Westmoreland (b.1975) completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1995. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe and spent extended periods of time in Spain, Morocco and France, visiting many museums during his travels.

Westmoreland has been exhibiting regularly in Melbourne and Sydney since 1997. His work has been included in numerous public exhibitions, including Geelong Contemporary Art Prize, Geelong Art Gallery (2018); Painting. More Painting at ACCA (2016); and Melbourne Now at National Gallery of Victoria (2013-14) and his works are held in major collections nationally and internationally including British Museum, London; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; and QAG/GOMA, Brisbane.

Bradd Westmoreland lives and works in Melbourne and is represented by Niagara Galleries, Richmond.

To mark its 25th year, Baldessin Studio has embarked on a very special project—inviting 53 members of its community to create an editionable print for the Baldessin Studio 25th Anniversary Print Collection. Launching at Sydney Contemporary, the collection is a celebration of the incredible community of artists who engage in the life of the studio, as well as a fundraiser to ensure the organisation can continue its work and sustain its vision, “to inspire and enable innovative printmaking whilst upholding the Baldessin ethic of fostering creativity in all forms”.
