Artist Statement
Peak is a hand-coloured relief print. It shows a feet atop a jagged rocky peak. They quiver in the joy of achievement, harnessing energy from risk. As viewers, an important thing about this picture is our location, we see from below the peak. From a place where we can feel the scale, the mass and the vertiginous rise.

Baldessin press is a fulcrum for creative printmaking. The magic of this place in the hills starts well before arriving. The journey there is a preparation of the mind. It’s not only the place that makes it unique, but the brilliant people.

Benjamin Armstrong (b.1975) works across sculpture and printmaking. His artwork is underpinned by a belief in creativity. He has exhibited nationally and internationally since the early 2000’s. His work is held in many State, regional and university museums.

To mark its 25th year, Baldessin Studio has embarked on a very special project—inviting 53 members of its community to create an editionable print for the Baldessin Studio 25th Anniversary Print Collection. Launching at Sydney Contemporary, the collection is a celebration of the incredible community of artists who engage in the life of the studio, as well as a fundraiser to ensure the organisation can continue its work and sustain its vision, “to inspire and enable innovative printmaking whilst upholding the Baldessin ethic of fostering creativity in all forms”.
