Artist Statement
I first visited Baldessin Studio as an Artist in Residence in 2024 and have returned multiple times. Baldessin Studio is a very special place and it has been a privilege to be welcomed into its community and to become part of its history.

November is one of the first etchings in a developing body of work. This new work is centred around the garden as a place of escape. Somewhere to slow down, wait for the change of the seasons and to watch something grow, so it can be drawn.

Anna Austin (b.1981) graduated from the Adelaide College for the Arts in 2008 and has exhibited locally, interstate and internationally. Anna has been a resident artist at the Art Vault, Mildura, Art Print Resident, Spain, and Baldessin Studio, Victoria. Anna has also attended paper making workshops at Awagami Factory, Japan, and completed an internship at Anchor Graphics, Chicago.

To mark its 25th year, Baldessin Studio has embarked on a very special project—inviting 53 members of its community to create an editionable print for the Baldessin Studio 25th Anniversary Print Collection. Launching at Sydney Contemporary, the collection is a celebration of the incredible community of artists who engage in the life of the studio, as well as a fundraiser to ensure the organisation can continue its work and sustain its vision, “to inspire and enable innovative printmaking whilst upholding the Baldessin ethic of fostering creativity in all forms”.
