The Baldessin Studio is a place where creativity blossoms. The 1970s bluestone building, designed and built by George Baldessin and set in bushland landscape, is quintessentially Australian. It is peaceful and sufficiently removed from the distractions of everyday life to support the exploration of technique. For over 25 years, this studio has witnessed the development of some of this country’s finest printmakers.
As a not-for-profit, open-access printmaking studio, the Baldessin Studio is a Registered Charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status. All donations over $2 are tax deductible. Run by a dedicated team of volunteers and a part-time studio manager, Baldessin Studio needs donations and support to help keep our workshop doors open to artists.

We are thrilled to be exhibiting at Sydney Contemporary from the 3rd to 6th of September, 2026. This year we will be celebrating our 25th year as an open-access printmaking workshop for artists. We will be sharing some exciting updates as to how we are celebrating shortly – stay tuned!

A place for artists & printmakers
Offered as a retreat from the city, with world class printmaking facilities and expert teachers, the Baldessin Studio attracts a host of talented artists from Australia and overseas. Artists of all skill levels, experiences and backgrounds can work alongside our regular and visiting practicing artists, explore a new technique in one of our workshops or book in bespoke technical guidance with one of our expert technicians.

Baldessin Studio is run by a dedicated voluntary Committee of Management and a small team of studio technicians. Our staff and artists are all highly respected, talented and professional artists within their fields and are truly the engine of our organisation.
We could not operate without the consistent and energetic support of our studio volunteers and are incredibly grateful to those, both current and past, whom have so generously given their hard work and time to support the Baldessin Studio.
