Join renowned artist BARBIE KJAR for an immersive week-end into the world of advanced Mokulito.

Designed specifically for artists who possess prior experience with Mokulito or have successfully completed a beginners' workshop with Barbie Kjar. This intensive workshop will delve deeper into the intricate techniques of wood lithography, expanding your creative horizons and refining your existing skills.

Topics Covered:

**2 Plate printing:** Explore the dynamic interplay of layers through 2 plate printing techniques. Learn how to create depth and complexity in your artwork by strategically layering different plates.

 **Registration Techniques:** Master the art of precise registration, a crucial aspect of creating intricate multi-layered prints. Discover methods to achieve accurate alignment and consistent results.

 **Colour Mixing and Transparencies:** Elevate your artwork with a range of colour palettes. Gain insights into advanced colour mixing techniques and experiment with transparencies to create depth.

 **Working at Large Scale:** Break free from size limitations and scale up your creations. Navigate the challenges and opportunities that arise when working on a larger plates or using multiple plates to compose one image.

 **Technique Refinement:** Strengthen your foundational Mokulito skills through expert guidance. Hone your mark-making, tonal variation, and texture application techniques.

 **Troubleshooting:** Printmaking doesn't always go according to plan. Explore strategies for overcoming unexpected challenges and turning setbacks into opportunities. Gain confidence in navigating the unpredictable nature that the Mokulito technique can offer.

As is customary, this workshop also offers the opportunities to draw from the Baldessin Studio bush settings as a way of informing your art work.

 Prerequisites:

To ensure a productive learning experience, participants must have prior experience with wood lithography / Mokulito techniques. Completion of a beginners' workshop with Barbie Kjar or equivalent experience is required.

Price: $650 – including all materials - plate size up to A2

Barbie Kjar is a Tasmanian artist (Masters of Fine Art at RMIT; Bachelor of Fine Arts and Education, University of Tasmania) with a special interest in Mokulito due to its ‘wonderful and spontaneous mark making potential’. In 2016 Kjar delved into Mokulito further learning directly from Ewa Budka at Art Print Residence in Arenys de Munt, Spain. Her interest was first sparked in 2004 when she was introduced to wood lithography at the Tokyo Art School during an Australia Council residency in Tokyo. Kjar is represented in state, regional and private collections and has completed numerous residencies around the world. Since 1986 she has held 36 solo exhibitions in Australia and more recently in Barcelona and Tokyo.

Workshop Cancellations & Refunds

We understand that circumstances can change. A full workshop refund will be offered:

·       if a workshop in which you are enrolled is cancelled or deferred to a date unsuitable for your attendance.

·       upon receipt of an email indicating your intention to withdraw your enrolment when notice is provided to us at least three weeks in advance of the workshop start date.

Workshop Credit - Transfers

We are happy to transfer your enrolment to a future workshop, but this will depend on availability of studio space and three weeks notice being given to us.
