This workshop offers a practical guide on how to use Adobe Indesign to create an interactive ebook.

For any artist this is an excellent way to document and collate your projects into a concise publication, that can be marketed on line, shared with art galleries etc.

Since 2013 Lloyd has documented most of his art projects http://lloydgodman.net/Publications/E_books.html

Who is the W/S for?

The workshop is designed for artists who have created a body of work and would like to document their work via a concise publication, like a catalogue or book which includes images and text.

Rationale: This workshop offers a practical introductory guide on how to use Adobe InDesign to create an interactive eBook (which can also be adapted for print out-put). As libraries fight for physical space to store hard copy publications, there has been a growth in eBooks, and many libraries including the State Library of Victoria now prefer eBooks to hard copy.

It is also a means of digitising an existing artist book.

What do I need?
Ideally, participants need a library of related digital material which might include:

·        Photographs

·        Maps

·        Illustrations

·        Prints

·        Paintings

·        Text

(while it would be useful to have the photographs prepared, any material can be updated at any time)

The workshop covers:

1.      Creating a new document

2.      Document settings

3.      Format orientation & size

4.      Setting cover, pages & spreads

5.      Margins, bleed & slug

6.      Creating a cover

7.      Image placement, scale and sizing

8.      Adding text, font size, colour, styles

9.      Auto spell check

10.  Frame, transparency

11.  Creating a page template, grid, guides

12.  Duplicating spreads

13.  Creating a text anchor

14.  Creating a hyperlink

15.  Adding sound/ video files

16.  Text wrapping

17.  Exporting – publishing options
